Facebook Profile Pictures

I’m never sure if it’s okay to ‘like’ a hot photo of a friend of a desirable gender; particularly when it’s meant to be a hot photo, and you don’t know the person all that well.  Maybe I am playing it tooo cool, by avoiding the “WOW, YOU ARE SO HOT!”-signalling ‘like.’  Perhaps I should just own up to my dog-ness.  Or could it be creepy?  But, alternatively, maybe it can be a polite, “wow, you are so hot!”-signalling ‘like?’  Either way, maybe it would be appreciated?

I also wonder if the ‘artsy profile pic’ is the equivalent of the ‘bro with his shirt off’ or ‘girl in bikini’ profile pic — that is, attempting to impress, but just with one’s artistic ability as opposed to one’s body.  Is the ‘artsy profile pic’ innately more virtuous?  (Do the stereotypical ‘bro with his shirt off’/’girl in bikini’ profile pics lose points for being cheesy and perpetuating gender norms about what the ‘ideal body’ looks like?  Are we really counting points?)  Or could the ‘artsy profile pics’ just be another incarnation of ‘the meat market?’

Okay.  I shall ‘like’ her photo.
